Allentown School flintlock longrifle. Circa 1810-1820, unsigned. Barrel is a smooth dark patina and is 39-1/2" long, about 41CAL, and is a smoothbore. It shows no evidence of ever having been shortened, and I believe it to be the original length. The wood is in very good shape overall. I think it has been lightly cleaned at some pointand has an old repair to the toe. The original piece was put back, and it is shown in the photos. Action is crisp, and the fit on the rifle is excellent. The ramrod is possibly original and at one time had a worm attached. The worm was broken off, and it makes the rod a little short. If the worm was replaced, the ramrod would be the proper length. This is a classic Allentown rifle at a very reasonable price. It is out of an old estate and has not been on the market before. Shipping and insurance will probably run $75-$100. I pad the rifles and strap them to a board and ship in new telescoping boxes. This costs a little more, but I have had good success doing it this way.
